Le Chéile – Written and Directed by Róise Nic an Bheatha

Le Chéile is the world’s first narrative short film in Scottish Gaelic (Gàidhlig) and Irish (Gaeilge). Premiered at Toronto Irish Film Festival and Belfast On The Pulse Film Festival (2024), the film follows a Scottish Rangers supporter and an Irish Celtic supporter who find common ground on a bus-ride home through their ability to speak similar languages.

Since its premiere in 2024, the films has been selected for over 20 film festivals including; International Film Festival Glasgow, Disappear Here Film Festival, Cinemagic Hollywood Film Festival, Partick Film Festival, Ranelagh Film Festival, UK Seasonal Short Film Festival, Sea Change Film Festival, St Patrick’s & St Bridget’s Film Festival, Achill Island Film Festival, On the Pulse Short Film Festival, Emerging Talent Film Festival, Fastnet Film Festival, Clew Bay Film Festival, Celtic Media Festival, The HB Film Festival, St Andrews Film Festival, West Lothian Film Festival, National Lasta Film Festival. It also won a number of awards:

  • Winner of the Best Director award at Partick Film Festival.
  • Winner of the Best Short Film award at Lasta Film Festival.
  • Winner of the Best Gaelic Short Film at West Lothian Film Festival.
  • Nominated for Short Form and Spirit of the Festival at the Celtic Media Festival 2024. 

This project received funding from the Colmcille Project Fund (£800).


A’ Cluich – Written and Directed by Róise Nic an Bheatha (Premiered March 2025)

A’ Cluich is a Gaelic language comedy that follows two young Buskers as they compete for the best performance spot on a busy Edinburgh street. It premiered at the FilmG Awards in 2025 and since has gone on to win a number of awards:

  • Best Comedy Award at FilmG Competition (National Gaelic Film Festival) 
  • Best Technical Excellence Award at FilmG Competition (National Gaelic Film Festival)
  • Premiered on BBCiPlayer in March 2025

See Me – Written and Directed by Róise Nic an Bheatha (Premiered July 2024)

A short-film that follows two people who rekindle their friendship after years apart…set in a dark wood.

  • Best Actor Award – 48 Hour Film Project Inverness
  • Runner-up overall film – 48 Hour Film Project Inverness
